2 Days Merzouga Wildlife & Birding Tour

On Day 1 of your 2 Days Merzouga Birding, we’ll welcome you to this stunning desert region, ready to embark on an unforgettable birdwatching experience. Armed with binoculars, we’ll head out into the iconic Erg Chebbi desert, known for its diverse birdlife that has adapted to the harsh desert environment.

As we traverse the vast sand dunes and barren plains, we’ll keep an eye out for desert sparrows, raptors such as the Desert Eagle, and various desert larks. The elusive Egyptian Nightjar may also make an appearance as it blends into the desert landscape at dusk. Throughout the day, our expert guides will share their knowledge of these fascinating species, helping you spot and understand their unique behaviors and adaptations.

After lunch and a short rest, the afternoon is reserved for your first Fennec Fox tracking session, guided by local trackers. These small, shy foxes are a true symbol of the Sahara. With patience and luck, you’ll catch them as they emerge from their burrows at dusk.

On the Day 2 of your Merzouga wildlife & Birding,

After breakfast, you embark on a second desert outing, this time focused on the region’s remarkable reptiles. With the help of guides, you’ll search for species like the Horned Viper (Vipera cerastes), Cerastes cerastes, and the Desert Monitor, all highly adapted to the extreme conditions of the Sahara.

After lunch and downtime, you head out again for a second Fennec Fox tracking session, increasing your chances of not just spotting but capturing sharp images of these elusive creatures during the golden hour. Evening at the lodge.
